Repair a Bathroom Fan
May 28, 2010 Bathroom 301 Comments
When
a bathroom fan first gets installed it works like a dream but as time
goes on you may notice that your bathroom fan isn’t working as well as
it once did. This is often times caused by a buildup of dust which can
cause the fan to not function at peak performance.
Most people first realize that something is amiss because their bathroom fan is noticeably louder. When dust accumulates the fan doesn’t function correctly as the dust has a direct impact on the way the fan spins. This is quite an easy fix.
First remove the outer cover, usually held on by 2-4 screws. After the bathroom fan cover is removed you should unplug the fan from the power source. Once unplugged you can unscrew the physical fan apparatus and then simply clean by either blowing air onto it or using a slightly-moist towel.
To complete your repair of the bathroom fan, reinstall the fan by fastening the screws, replace the bathroom fan cover and you’re all set. Activate the fan and you’ll be pleasantly surprised that it is now quieter and running more effectively and efficiently.
